Dolphins' decision to stick with partial attendance shows the football teams in Florida are smarter than the governor

    By xa1
  • Night net American Football Dolphins At what we only can hope will stand as its peak moment of the pandemic, the state of Florida was home to 15,300 new cases of COVID-19. That was in mid-July. Not quite three months later, new cases have declined by 85 percent. This is encouraging news, viewed in that context. It is not an achievement, though, because we still are talking about more than 2,000 people falling ill with this debilitating and frequently deadly disease. This is not a time to do a choreographed touchdown celebration in the end zone of Hard Rock Stadium. That is not the plan presented Wednesday by Florida’s cartoon governor, Ron DeSantis. No, he wants the celebration to be in the stands. He told Miami talk host Andy Slater that he was removing restrictions on public gatherings and would allow the Dolphins to welcome a capacity crowd of 65,000 the next time they play an Night net game.MORE: Night net COVID-19 case tracker Slater amplified this by saying DeSantis’ spokesperson wished “to make it clear … all Florida stadiums were able to go full capacity.” That potentially would mean 88,548 at the Florida Gators’ Ben Hill Griffin Stadium or 79,560 at Florida State’s Doak Campbell Stadium. The Dolphins said they were remaining a[......]

Eagles' Jalen Hurts on 'deuce' of a performance vs. Cowboys: 'We’re going to flush it and move on'

    By xa1
  • NFL Cowboys v Eagles Eagles Cowboys American Football Jalen Hurts wore the No. 1 jersey for the third time in as many Eagles games. However, he looked like he belonged in the No. 2 jersey he wore as a rookie during Philadelphia's 41-21 loss to the Cowboys on "Monday Night Football."And Hurts knew it. He said he was displeased with his performance against Dallas and used a fitting metaphor to describe it. “I take responsibility for how this game went tonight," Hurts said to reporters after the game. "I’m going to learn from it. We’re going to be a better team from it. I believe that. I truly believe that. You take you a deuce, you don’t sit there and look at it. You flush it and move on. We’re going to flush it and move on.”NFL PICKS: Against the spread | Straight up It's hard to argue with Hurts' assessment.
